“Here we are back with Brazil’s Eastern Amazonia after the pandemic. A reformulated and extremely successful itinerary, covering only the state of Pará. The savannas (Cerrado) from Monte Alegre and a bit of varzea of its surroundings were the new deal, providing the stunning and localized Sulphur-breasted Parakeet and few other write-ins for this trip. We had a great time again in the Belém area with remarkable sightings, including the gorgeous Crimson Topaz, the rare Black-chested Tyrant and others like Willis’s Antbird, Spotted Puffbird, endemic Buff-browed Chachalaca and Pale-tailed Barbthroat. Amazonia National Park was just insane this time with so many great birds, like Fiery-tailed Awlbill, Dark-winged Trumpeter, Harpy Eagle, Rufous-necked and Collared Puffbirds, Golden Parakeet, Vulturine Parrot, Crimson-bellied Parakeet, Hoffmann’s Woodcreeper, the localized Harlequin Antbird, the illusive Pale-faced Bare-eye (another long-wanted BQ lifer!), Alta Floresta, Tapajos and Amazonian Antpittas, the legendary Musician Wren and […].”
