The Ultimate In Birding Tours

Rob Morris

Rob grew up birding in Kent in the UK, but has been based in Brisbane, Queensland, since 2007, where he has gained a comprehensive knowledge of Australia’s avifauna.

Growing up in a birding family, Rob has been birding for as long as he can remember. Rob’s birding passion grew to new heights when studying for his first degree (BSc. Hons in Ecology) where he was involved in a summer placement to St Vincent (studying the endemic Whistling Warbler) and another placement teaching ornithology for the Massachusetts’s Audubon Society in New Hampshire (USA).

Following his first degree, he spent 2 years at WildCRU (Wildlife Conservation Research Unit) at Oxford University studying McQueen’s Bustards (based in the Middle-East), before undertaking a Master’s degree (MSc. Environmental Planning) where his thesis examined the treatment of Avifauna in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) in the UK.

Rob has extensive experience of birding in Europe and the Middle East, Central Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia (both the mainland and its islands from the Philippines south to Indonesia), East Asia, Australasia and the Pacific Islands.

He has also travelled widely in Antarctica, North and Southern Africa, parts of Central and South America, the Caribbean, and North America.

In Australia, Rob has seen all but two of the resident endemics!

Rob is also a very keen naturalist overall, and as well as his passion for showing people birds and sharing his knowledge, he can often be found wandering around national parks at night looking at mammals, reptiles and amphibians, particularly in Australia.
