The Ultimate In Birding Tours

Steve Braine

Steve Braine lives in Windhoek, Namibia with his wife Louise. They have two grown-up sone, Sean and Dane, both of whom are keen birders, naturalists and photographers.

Encouraged to take an interest in wildlife and natural history from a very early age by his father, Steve inherited his father’s love of birds and butterflies in particular and is probably the only person in Namibia with four butterflies named after him!

Steve has become one of Namibia’s leading bird and natural history experts. After an initial spell as an exploration geologist, he left to study nature conservation and then spent nine years in Skeleton Coast Park (and it was his experiences there that formed the foundation for his expertise on, and love for, the Namib Desert).

Steve and Louise used to own remote Hobatere Lodge on the western border of Etosha, and Steve nowadays leads ornithological and wildlife tours all over Namibia as well as to Botswana, Angola, South Africa, Zambia and beyond.
