BIRDQUEST: AROUND 10,200 BIRD SPECIES HAVE NOW BEEN RECORDED ON OUR TOURS!

Our first view of the wonderful but endangered Horned Guan, Birdquest's 10,000th species! (Mark Beaman)

We passed the 10,000 bird species mark in February 2014 on our inaugural El Triunfo tour, led by Mark Van Beirs and Mark Beaman, in southern Mexico. The weird and wonderful Horned Guan was species number 10,000!

This is an amazing milestone! No other birding tour company in the world has achieved this, and indeed none are close! It took us nearly 33 years and well over 1000 tours to get there!

And we have already started working our way through the remaininbg species, reaching around 10,200 to date, partly thanks to a more splitting by the IOC.

Now this is truly a strange but handsome critter! (Mark Beaman)
