Not only birds have been introduced to Hawaii. This is a Pea Blue (Lampides boeticus) (Pat Wileman).
We also visited the picturesque coast (Mark Van Beirs).
On the island of Maui we spent two days birding the magnificent Waikamoi reserve where the endemics of Maui survive in small numbers (Mark Van Beirs).
This magic Maui Parrotbill posed at length in the Waikamoi Reserve. A truly special bird!! It is the rarest of the surviving Hawaiian Honeycreepers with a population of just 500 birds!(Pat Wileman).

This Short-eared Owl (local name Pueo) was hunting along the road up the Haleakala volcano (Pat Wileman).

Introduced Chukars are common and quite tame near the top of the volcano (Mark Van Beirs).
The famous Silversword is endemic to the higher reaches of the Haleakala volcano and belongs to the Asteraceae. This is a young plant (Mark Van Beirs).
