NIgel Redman

A total of 235 species of birds was recorded on the 2005 tour to eastern Siberia. This included no fewer than 34 regional specialities in addition to a host of more widespread Siberian species. We watched an amazing 30 species of warblers (including six Locustellas), 19 species of wildfowl (including Falcated Duck, Baer’s Pochard and Scaly-sided Merganser), five auks, nine thrushes and 10 buntings. The list included such enigmatic species as Oriental Stork at the nest, Scaly-sided Merganser, White-naped Crane, Band-bellied Crake, Rhinoceros Auklet and Grey Bunting.
