CHAD EXPEDITION

Mark Beaman

As well as some great birds, that one can effectively be seen nowhere else, Chad also has a remarkable selection of mammals, including the splendid Scimitar-horned Oryx (Mark Beaman)

As well as some great birds, that one can effectively be seen nowhere else, Chad also has a remarkable selection of mammals, including the splendid Scimitar-horned Oryx (Mark Beaman)

A more detailed report will be appearing here later, but a full systematic list of the bird and mammals recorded during our 2017 Chad expedition is already included.

Our first Chad expedition, the first ever tour to the country, was a great success and among the 300 bird species recorded were no fewer than five Birdquest lifers; Nubian Bustard, Niam-niam Parrot, Black-breasted Barbet, Rusty Bush Lark and Kordofan Sparrow.

Mammals were also exceptional, with a remarkable 42 species recorded, including the splendid Scimitar-horned Oryx and Dama Gazelle.
